On January 27, 2023 I.Gorbulina, Head of the FBA EAC Representative Office in the Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand, participated in the workshop «Facilitating Cross-Border Digital Trade Financing» organized by the APEC Business Advisory Council. The workshop was prepared by the initiative group of three economies: Thailand’s National Digital Trade Platform (NDTP) (Thailand), Singapore’s Networked Trade Platform (NTP) (Singapore) and Japan’s TradeWaltz (Japan). The workshop reviewed the outcomes of a series of pilot project activities that included the implementation of standards for electronic commercial documents, electronic purchase order, electronic invoices and electronic packing lists and the process of authentication of master documents for financing by banks. The end-to-end digitalization of trade finance is particularly important for micro, small and medium-sized companies, as most MSMEs still depend on traditional paper-based trade documentation, which ultimately makes timely access to working capital difficult. A pilot project to connect Thailand’s National Digital Trading Platform (NDTP) with Singapore’s Network Trading Platform (NTP) and Japan’s TradeWaltz was initiated in 2022, with concept validation activities successfully implemented in autumn 2022.
